ASCENSION DAY SERVICE

Ascension Day is a special occasion in the Christian calendar. It marks the last appearance of Jesus to the disciples after his resurrection at Easter. Jesus had spoken to his disciples about what was going to happen to them and what he expected them to do. He was with them on the Mount of Olives when 'a cloud hid him from their sight' (Acts 1.9) and 'he left them and was taken up into heaven' (Luke 24.51).

This year we all walked across the fields to St Laurence Church, Guestling for a special Ascension Day service.

Yes, I know the bluebells are lovely, but we haven't got time to stop and look now!

We had come with coats and wellies after the rain earlier in the week, but it turned out to be a glorious afternoon.

Here we are arriving at the Church and leaving our wellies in the porch.

Bernard walked across the fields with us before leading the service.

Time to head back to school again.

What’s that over there?

Aren’t we lucky to have such beautiful surroundings!
